S..A..F..E..T..Y!

As rightly described by Abraham Maslow, Safety is one of the prime needs of common man but it seems to be hoarded somewhere! It may sound like a cliché but by scanning the zillion incidents happening around us, you all would agree with my previous statement.
Observe a child, he/she always clings to his/her close circle! Have a look at the newly born puppies, it never wants to separate itself from the cuddled warmth of its mom! Observe a mentally challenged person, he/she would scream when a stranger goes near. In all the above quoted instances, safety, a sense of security is all that everyone longs to have!
Considering the broader picture, take the political situation of India. Everybody was clashing to divide the country into different pieces and they claim ownership for every different piece! With the uncertainties of life standing tall, I really wonder why people fight for every single thing. Now that with the change of government, the hopes of common man are really high and I sincerely wish the new government will live up to all our expectations.
The missing Malaysian flight is yet another example. The recent article in Hindu written by one of the family members of the passengers in the Malaysian flight perturbed me a lot. The way each one of us reacted would have been different if it had happened in our own backyard. The tags we attach to the lives of our own sapiens is always lesser when compared to what we value for our own self. Just because it is only 5 Indians in the flight, it doesn’t mean we as a country can take a backseat and watch the rescue operation.
Every single life is precious and a million attempts will not suffice to understand the intricate emotions that each missing passenger’s kith and kin are undergoing right now. It’s high time for a wakeup call. If not now, all our lives would soon be cached under an immovable carpet. Take responsibility for the safety of yourself and also your fellow human being. Wish things would turn out to be soothing in the near future.

Joy of Giving!

Imagine a day in your life
where you are left all alone;
where your tears go unseen;
where you find no solace;
Imagine your desperate loneliness!
There are n number of people
Longing for care,
Craving for love,
Awaiting for a shelter in dear ones arms,
And above all longing for compassion and a sense of security.
Take a pause to look at the world outside.
There are lot more to be taken care off!
Never complain, feel blessed for all that we are!
Take an oath to make a person more livelier, more happier and more stronger each day!
Live and let all live!
Love and be loved!
Experience the plethora of joy in giving!

You can fly without wings!

Have you ever thought even in the wildest of your dreams that a broken heart can lead to heart attack? The Greeks believed the heart was the seat of the spirit, the Chinese associated it with the centre for happiness. Matters of the heart have baffled humans since the dawn of time, with sonnets and entire books devoted to the meaning of love. Scientists are finding that the blood pump in heart is just as complex. One can’t live or love without it! With the World Heart Day on Sep 29, take an oath to keep your heart healthy. Let us not give a hefty job for a fist-sized muscle by piling lots of worries and puzzles of life. Laugh out loud, go for a jog, have healthy food! Live in the pink of your health forever J

What would you do if there comes a day which puts a full stop to tourism across countries? With such a volatile status of the economy, it might happen one day. Many a times, we have been fascinated with Eiffel tower, Grand Canyon, Statue of Liberty, Great Wall of China and what not? In the meantime we failed to explore India and get ensnared about the beautiful carvings of our own country. The World Tourism Day falls on Sep 27. With stocky pockets in the near future, plan to explore the awesome places in India and abroad. (It would add even more beauty if you are not aloneJ, formulate plans accordingly!)

There were times, when disappointments just meant not coming first in frog race! When challenges just meant walking on the thin stick without falling down! When waiting for something just meant counting the number of cars on roads! When life’s complex choices had the option of inkey pinkey ponkey! When revenge meant spraying ink on the defendants shirt! Where are those small little things which had the bliss of childishness in all of us? Are we all living in peace right now? Every year, World Peace Day is observed on Sep 21. Strengthen the ideals of peace within and among people around. Keep the childishness in you alive even if you grow older. Only then even the eeriest of things would be at ease.

PS: With peace in mind and happiness in heart you can fly to greater heights. Remember to thrust aside the difficulties, to have a push when you fly.

Left Thumb

One of my professors who taught on thinking skills, all of a sudden asked us to write about our left thumb. This is what came to my mind and when I read it loud, I was so happy to receive positive feedback!

When things slip out of my hand,
Its my left thumb which gets hold of it from falling down..!
When my dear ones are chasing their goals at a far end,
Its my left thumb that shows the symbol of victory..!
When I play with kids,
Its on my left thumb wherein I draw faces and create fun..!
In matters of high confidentiality,
Its my left thumb which is used to portray my identity..!
In times when words fall short,
Its my left thumb which conveys a million times of motivation without a single word being uttered..!

What if there is no Internet?

What if the satellite crashes? What if there comes a situation where all the systems on earth remain idle even after repeated bumps on keyboard? What if all the Internet Service Providers vanish all of a sudden? In a highly volatile world we live in, even the eeriest of things are likely to happen. Take, for instance, the severing of three underwater optical cables in 2008, which led to widespread outages in India, Egypt, and other Middle Eastern countries. After an investigation, authorities attributed the damage to dropped anchors. What if the same happens again and what if that anchor drop never comes into picture to be our savior?

Without internet, marriages will really be made in heaven and not through matrimonial sites anymore :-P, we will learn to face the book rather than sitting for a long time in facebook, our neurons will get activated which has not happened ever since our birth, we will not empty our pockets for net boosters, we will once again get back to the traditional way of writing letters, libraries will be unusually crowded, retail stores will find a meaning for their existence and ultimately many innovative brains will emerge!

Envisage TSM campus without Wi-Fi for a week. That has happened and all of us knew how crazy we became switching from room to room asking for assignments to copy:-P, looking for cell phones to play games, eyeing the case studies from all directions not knowing how to proceed, going to bed early (which was very unusual:-P), getting up late (which was usual:-P) and what not? At least now, do you agree that we had been communicating with avatars rather than humans in our everyday life? For a change, why don’t we unplug ourselves from the hold of internet at least a day in a week to take a pause and gaze at the beauty of the world we live in? Of course without internet, the world will not end. You will survive, I will survive and probably we will become the survival of the fittest then!

PS: This article was written keeping TSM campus in mind! For readers outside the purview of my college, I wish you read this from a different perspective.
